Brand Usage Guidelines

For users may choose to share our Services or Content with others (thanks, by the way!), we have some guidelines on how to best introduce and represent the Insights to English™ brand.

The name ‘Insights to English’ and its logo are registered trademarks.  Use of our brand and Content should adhere to our Sharing Policy and the rest of our Legal Agreement.

TITLE

Our company and brand should be referred to as “Insights to English” with a capital ‘I’; although the logo is stylized with a tittle (a dot) above its first letter, the company and brand should never be written as “insights to English”.

  • The only time a lowercase ‘i’ may begin the name of our organization/brand is in the writing of our website (https://www.insightstoenglish.com/) or of our email address (example@insightstoenglish.com)

Once the full name of “Insights to English” has been introduced within a context, the organization/brand may then be referred to as “Insights” – again, always starting with a capital ‘I’ – never “ItE”, “IE”, etc.

‘Insights’ is a singular company/brand and should be treated as a singular proper noun (even though it refers to a plural common noun).  The verbs that follow ‘Insights’ should reflect its singular nature, as in “Insights is” or “Insights has”. When expressing the possessive form, the title should be followed by an apostrophe, then an ‘s’, as in “Insights to English’s” or “Insights’s”.

LOGO

When displaying the full logo (the speech bulb icon plus the title), all words must be in horizontal arrangement; do not stack “Insights” above “to English”, for instance.  The speech bulb may either precede the title (to the left) or be set above the title.  Do not alter the proportions of letters or of the speech bulb in relation to the words, but only use the proportions that Insights has provided.  The logo should be set against a rectangular background.

Our logo may also be displayed as only the speech bulb logo (without the title), in which case it should not be combined with any other words.  The speech bulb should be contained within a rectangle, rounded rectangle, or circle background without a border, and the icon should be positioned slightly north of center.

The base of the bulb icon and the light rays of the icon should always be the same color as each other, though the speech bubble may be a different color.  Title text (when included) should be the same color as either part of the icon.  Together with the background color, the icon should be presented in no more than three colors.  The following color standards are listed in descending order of Insights’s preferences:

  • STANDARD: Ideally, the logo is in white (#FFFFFF), apart from the speech bubble in gold (#FAB44B), set on a cool dark green background (#196969).
  • HIGHLIGHT: The text and the majority of the icon should be white when set on a black or dark gray background (#323232), and the speech bubble may be any bright color with a contrast ration of 4.5:1 or greater.
  • B&W: If you can’t use color, or can’t use a dual-tone, use white on black or black on white.

The logos (both the full logo and the speech bulb logo) may not be distorted in any way; you may not rotate, stretch/compress, flip, or otherwise alter their shape.  Allow a bit of negative space around the logo, between it and any nearby elements.  Do not add 3D effects (even including shadows).  Do not add a border around the logo or outline any part of the icon or text.  Do not obscure portions of the logo; make sure it is visible in its entirety.  Do not use the logo as a part of a sentence or phrase.

The logo must be large enough to be readable within reason.
